What You Don’t Know When You Say, “I Don’t Want to Work With a Recruiter!”
I hear this at times — “I don’t want to work with a recruiter."And I get it but there’s a common misconception that using a recruiter, like myself, adds unnecessary steps, limits your control, or even costs you money. But here’s what most people don’t realize: when you say no, you may be closing the door on opportunities that were never even posted publicly.
What sets me apart and what you may not know?
A reputable recruiter doesn’t charge candidates anything! I work with you for FREE!
All my openings are DIRECT HIRE. That should matter to you!
I typically work directly with hiring managers and owners — not HR departments typically buried under hundreds of applications and many times miss your resume all together.
I know what the company really wants in a candidate and can help tailor your approach so your resume doesn’t get lost in the shuffle. Often, we’re the ones sitting across from the employer, advocating for you — negotiating salary, setting expectations, and positioning you for a long-term career fit, not just a job.
You will always get feedback and strong communication between the hiring manager and why you may or may not qualify.
You will get free resume and career advise that will help better your career search presence. You don't have to work with me for that help!
You may get considered for a role that hasn't even been posted yet which puts you on top of other potential candidates.
If the role you applied for isn't a good fit I may have other roles that align. And if I don't?... At least we had a conversation that if and when a new opening presents itself I know when I can reach out to you in private. You can focus on your current job!
When you post your resume on career job site platforms your existing employer will know. This is public. If you come through me, it's confidential and we work behind the scenes.
Lastly, I am the owner of WCSR. Why does that matter? Because it's my business and it's also my reputation at stake. If you or the employer aren't happy after making such an important life decision then I didn't do my job. Please check out the testimonials page: https://www.wisconsincountrystaffing.com/testimonials
My job is so much more than just to match talent with employers who value them. Think of me as your inside connection — someone who has already done the legwork to vet the employer, understand their culture, and ensure your time isn’t wasted chasing dead-end postings. The best part is that if you get in for a confidential interview with the employer and it's something that you are not interested in?... You can be assured there will never be any pressure.
So next time you think, “I don’t want to go through a staffing firm,” just remember — I'm not the middleman standing in your way. I'm the bridge that gets you to the right opportunity faster, with more clarity and confidentially. And if and when you make a change you've mitigated the risk after the honeymoon job stage is over and still remain excited about your new career for years to come.
I’m not just another recruiter — I’m the owner of WCSR. That means my reputation stands on every candidate and every employer I represent. When you work with me, you’re not just a name in a system — you’re a person I advocate for. If either side isn’t happy after a hire, then I haven’t done my job. My goal is simple: To help good people find great employers, and ensure both sides succeed long after the hire.
Sincerely,
Keri, Owner
WCSR
